Even excellent doctors may not be aware of the latest clinical trials. And if the people who run clinical trials don’t know you’re out there, they can’t invite you to participate. The Wondros Clinical Trials Guide includes all the trials listed on www.clinicaltrials.gov. But we make it faster and easier for you to find a trial that meets your needs. Search a condition, enter a location, and compare “trials near me.” You’ll be able to see time commitments, inclusion and exclusion criteria, and hear directly from patients about their experience participating in a clinical trial. Don’t know the formal name for the condition or disease? Our AI-powered search engine allows you to search by more common terminology. Create an account to save trials that interest you so that you can review them with your health care provider and get alerts about similar trials. Then reach out to the trial research team directly to apply to participate.
The trial coordinator on the clinical trial contact page will be able to answer all your questions about the trial. Some key questions are: How often and for how long will I need to visit the site? How will this affect my medical insurance? Do I need medical insurance to participate? Will you be giving me follow-up care, tests, and exams? How will the treatment be administered? Will I be paid money for my involvement? Will travel be compensated? If the treatment helps my condition, can I continue taking the treatment after the study is completed?
It is important that you understand the risk of undergoing treatment that is still in the testing phase. There is a risk that the treatment might actually harm you. Another consideration is whether you risk being randomly placed into a control group. A control group is a group of patients in a clinical trial who do not receive the new treatment. The control group instead continues with the current standard of care or receives a placebo (sugar pill). It is important to consult with the trial coordinator to understand all of the potential risks and benefits.
When people like you are empowered to seek out clinical trials, it means better treatments and cures for everyone. Watch the short video on this page to guide you through each step of this tool. It’s a simple and easy way to find a clinical trial that matches your needs.
